Martumili Artists

The Martu people's art centre, showing from a gallery inside Newman's East Pilbara Arts Centre. Its artists come from a scatter of remote communities across the East Pilbara and the Western Desert, and the gallery hangs their painting alongside ethically sourced work and gift pieces, changing its exhibitions through the year. Open six days a week in a mining town most travellers only pass through, it's about the most straightforward way to see desert painting close to where it's made.
