Where the Murchison River loops through the red-and-white banded sandstone of Kalbarri National Park, wind and water have worn a natural rock frame - Nature's Window - that perfectly frames the gorge beyond, one of the most photographed sights in Western Australia. A short walk from the car park reaches it, and the longer, tougher Loop track descends into the gorge to follow the river around the bend. The layered rock, four hundred million years old, glows at sunrise and sunset. The park's inland gorges are a striking counterpoint to its coastal cliffs a little to the west.
