Araluen Cultural Precinct

Alice Springs & Red Centre, NT

Built around a 300-year-old corkwood tree, this 1984 complex holds the most significant collection of Albert Namatjira watercolours in Central Australia — painted country visible through the window. Five galleries trace the Western Desert art movement from its origins to now. Each September, Desert Mob draws work from 30 remote arts centres across the NT, SA and WA.
