Tasmania's east coast gets its own learn-to-surf outfit, running private lessons on the beaches around Scamander and, further south, at Clifton Beach near Hobart. Sessions are small and tailored, and the operator hires out surfboards, stand-up paddleboards and wetsuits with local delivery and pickup. Kids join through the Woolworths SurfGroms program, and school groups are catered for. Boards and gear are supplied, so first-timers can simply turn up and paddle out.
