    A colonial-style stone cottage on Darwin's Esplanade, built by the late Lord Alistair McAlpine. The three-bedroom house sleeps up to six and has its own pool, sitting on the waterfront boulevard that runs along the top of the city, a short walk from the CBD and harbour. Interiors keep the stone-and-timber character of the original build rather than a standard hotel fit-out, and the whole cottage is taken privately, so it works for a family or small group wanting the run of a house near the water. The Esplanade position gives views over the harbour and easy access to the city's dry-season markets and events.
