In bushland at Woodwark, about a quarter-hour from Airlie Beach, nine timber cabins and a two-bedroom apartment sit spaced apart among wallabies, cockatoos and curlews. Each has its own verandah, a private campfire and a self-catering kitchen ranging from kitchenette to full granite. The retreat is adults-only, with dark skies for stargazing and cabins named for the wildlife that visits. It suits couples after quiet, self-contained bush time within reach of the Whitsundays.
