F.D.G. Stanley designed it in 1888 for the Queensland National Bank, which had been trading in Charleville since 1881. It became a boarding house, then in 1973 the local historical society bought it and has run it on volunteer hours ever since. The collection holds John Flynn's typewriter, a rail ambulance, and material on the first aircraft to cross Australia.
