The building opened as the Shamrock Inn, burned down in 1885, was rebuilt as the Union, and became the Settlers Inn when the Callaghans renamed it for the Prince of Wales coming to Ipswich in 1920. It is now a café in the Top of Town heritage precinct, open from seven, doing all-day breakfast and high tea, with a kitchen that cooks everything on site.
