Scottie Simmonds has forged knives for more than a decade at Moore Park Beach, twenty minutes north of Bundaberg near the Kolan River. His blades are hand-forged and hollow-ground, one-off and made to purpose: hunters and skinners, fishing and fillet knives, butcher and kitchen blades, survival tools and the odd replica. He works high-carbon 52100 and layered Damascus, along with san mai constructions. The workshop takes commissions and sells online, and Simmonds runs knifemaking classes for makers of any age or skill.
