From the Melbourne team behind Japanese cafes Le Bajo and 279, Hareruya (a "sunny shop" in Japanese) makes its own gelato and sells it takeaway on Lincoln Square in Carlton and off Somerset Place in the CBD. Around eight flavours rotate, strong matcha to hojicha and yuzu, taken in a cup, wrapped in mochi as daifuku, or pressed between rice wafers as monaka. Bento, onigiri, sando, castella and Japanese sodas fill out the counter, and it regularly sells out.
