On Lake Eildon, in Victoria's Central Highlands, a family-run operation hires a small fleet of self-drive houseboats across the reservoir's forested arms: Deluxe 1 at the premium end, plus Getaway, Spoil Yourself and the Eildon Princess for value. No boat licence is needed, and two boats are set up to carry dirt bikes for riders heading into the surrounding hills. Tender boats, fishing craft and water toys can be added. Running since 2018, it's a straightforward way to spend a few days drifting the lake's coves and quiet inlets.
