Deep in the Pyengana valley, half an hour inland from St Helens, stands one of Tasmania's oldest pubs, licensed since 1880 and still pouring in the same paddock-flanked spot. Six guest rooms share facilities above a restaurant serving lunch and dinner, and the place remains best known for Priscilla, its resident beer-drinking pig. Country roads, river fishing and the surrounding farmland set the pace. It suits singles, couples and families after an unfussed rural stopover with genuine history.
