Confido Coonawarra

Coonawarra is shorthand for cabernet, but this working olive grove offers a different reason to pull off the road. Run by Heidi and Dave Boyd on Old Comaum Road, the property carries trees more than seventy-five years old, pressed into extra virgin olive oil alongside salt-cured olives, castile soaps, balms and a lemon squash concentrate. Rather than a simple farm shop, the couple structure the visit as guided experiences, with grove walks and shed tours that end in a seated tasting, plus owner-led private sessions and occasional workshops. The emphasis on estate-grown fruit and single-site production has drawn coverage in the rural press. It sits roughly four and a half hours south-east of Adelaide, deep in wine country, and makes a considered stop for anyone more interested in provenance than volume.
