Kevin Slattery has spent close to fifteen years at the anvil, and these days keeps his focus on the chef's knife, forging blades to order at his workshop in the Canberra district. Over two days at the forge, students light the fire and shape a chef's knife of their own under his eye. A former president of the Australian Knife Art association, a full member of the Australian Knifemakers Guild and an apprentice of the American Bladesmith Society, Slattery works in the older tradition of forge-to-finish making.
