After twenty-five years in architecture and design, Dearne Mills works from a Ballarat studio building jewellery from reclaimed materials. Vintage kimono offcuts and upholstery leather are cut and layered into Mushi brooches, salvaged timber and beads composed into sculptural Shiro necklaces, felt remnants stitched into soft Shinzo pieces. Her design background shows in the clean lines and proportion, each piece worked in small runs. Mainichi, the Japanese word for everyday, has shown at Craft Victoria.
