Angie Giannakodakis helped launch Hellenic Republic in this Lygon Street building, and now she's back in it with Guy Holder, her partner from Epocha. Taverna began as a pop-up meant to keep her mother's recipes alive, and Katina's moussaka appears when eggplant is in season. The model is an Athenian taverna: house-baked olive oil bread, fava, food off the grill, and a wine list filling up with Hellenic labels. Gourmet Traveller named Giannakodakis its Restaurant Personality of the Year.
