WAY ATLAS · WHALE WATCHING

King GeorgeSound Safari

GREAT SOUTHERN, WA

Captain Mark works the deep, sheltered water of King George Sound aboard Young Salty Dog, a converted ex sea-rescue vessel. From May to October the three-hour Whale and Scenic Safari tracks humpbacks, southern rights and the occasional rare blue whale; through the warmer months a two-hour scenic safari takes over. It is a one-boat, skipper-narrated operation, and Mark's commentary carries the local history and coastline along with the wildlife.
