One of Arnhem Land's established art centres, run from the remote coastal community of Maningrida in the Top End. A weekday gallery shows work by local artists, and the adjoining Djómi Museum — holding older pieces and cultural material — opens by prior arrangement. Reaching it means a flight from Darwin and, usually, a permit, so a visit rewards planning. The result is a place where the region's art is made, exhibited and cared for together, rather than a gallery importing work from elsewhere.
