Stag &Hunter Hotel

A Mayfield pub, a hundred years old this year and owner-run by the same family since 1998, that has made itself one of Newcastle's essential rooms for original live music. The front bar was rebuilt around the stage so punters can actually see the band; local, touring and international acts play most weeks across every genre. The kitchen does pub classics in-house, and the fit-out keeps remnants of the suburb's BHP steelworks past. Food, beer, music, repeat.
