Sarah and Nath Worth started The Wood Project in Hastings in 2016 with a simple premise: suburban trees being cleared for development are too good to chip. They salvage the logs, mill them on-site, kiln-dry the timber, and turn it into slabs, dining tables, floating mantels, bar tops, and post-and-rail fencing. None of it comes from forestry. Visit the Frankston–Flinders Road workshop weekdays to pick through raw slabs yourself.
