High on Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland, this four-room bed and breakfast trades on its outlook: the rooms and a shared guest lounge face west across the valley toward Mount Barney and the Great Dividing Range. Each room is worked to a different theme — among them a rainforest-facing room with an open shower, and another with a double spa bath and long-range views — and several have log fires for the cool mountain evenings. Breakfast and a communal sitting room with an open fireplace anchor the day. The mountain, a plateau of rainforest, wineries and galleries above the coastal plain, is an easy drive from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It has twice been named among Australia's top bed and breakfasts in TripAdvisor's traveller awards, and remains a small owner-run house rather than a managed property.
