Ancient limestone country west of Orange where a band of karst breaks the surface in caves and outcrops. Arch Cave, the most visited, is open for self-guided exploration by torchlight, its chambers hung with stalactites, columns and flowstone; Verandah Cave is an easy walk past limestone outcrops and water pools. The Arch Loop track connects the main features, and a large grassy picnic area with barbecues sits in the shade nearby. The reserve also protects an inland refuge for the eastern bent-winged bat.
