A Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American deli opened on Johnston Street in 1975 by Jose and Alice de Sousa, who had migrated from the Portuguese island of Madeira. Johnston Street was then home to the Spanish Club, and the shop has backed that community since — it was among the first businesses to fund the first Spanish Fiesta in 1978. Still family-run. Chorizo and other smallgoods are made at the family's Alphington warehouse, which also holds a purpose-built cooking school. Open Monday to Saturday.
