Tony 'Doco' Docherty has forged knives in Western Australia since the early 1990s, having trained under Thomas Gerner, described as Australia's first master knife smith. He makes his own Damascus from 1084 and 15n20 steels in ladder, raindrop, twist and random patterns, and cuts handles from WA semi-desert acacias such as mulga, miniritchie and gidgee, often set against brass, buffalo horn, antler and G10. The range spans stainless kitchen knives, choppers, hunters and camp knives, all made to be used. He also runs knifemaking workshops.
