Jason Ellard is a young Tasmanian bladesmith working from a home forge at Coningham, south of Hobart. He came to the craft through mild steel and reclaimed railway line before Damascus took hold, and has since trained in mosaic-pattern work under American mastersmith Kyle Royer. The bench turns out forged culinary blades in patterned steel, alongside the occasional hammer of his own making. It is a self-directed practice, built from online study and a handful of masterclasses, and still expanding toward lessons and larger commissions.
