Bondi's board-riding culture is older than the shop itself, but Let's Go Surfing has spent three decades teaching visitors to read it. Founded in 1995 by lifelong surfer Brenda Miley, who began giving lessons from the back of a Kombi van, the school now runs from four beaches — Bondi, Maroubra and La Perouse in Sydney's east, and Byron Bay and Ballina/Lennox Head further north — with instructors coaching everything from a first stand-up to advanced longboard technique. Group and private lessons are bookable directly online, and the school also runs stand-up paddleboarding alongside its surf program. Every location carries Ecotourism Australia's ECO Certification, covering water use, wetsuit recycling and other operational standards rather than just marketing language. For a first lesson on one of Sydney's best-known beaches, the Bondi base — a short walk from the promenade — is the longest-running option in the area.
