Run by the Bard people, the Salt Water community that has read this stretch of the Dampier Peninsula coast for many thousands of years, the guided days here move with Country and the tides. Traditional owners lead whale watching, kayaking, mud crabbing, snorkelling and cultural tours out of Thomas Bay, north of Broome. A $10 vehicle day pass opens the community, which also keeps a bakery, general store and arts and crafts centre. Tours run in the cooler dry-season window, and the country is the whole point.
