Mount Kaputar

新英格兰西北地区, NARRABRI, NEW SOUTH WALES

新英格兰西北地区, Narrabri, New South Wales获取方向

East of Narrabri on the north-west plains, Mount Kaputar National Park rises unexpectedly from the flat country - the eroded remains of an ancient volcano, its peaks and organ-pipe cliffs cool and forested far above the wheat. A road climbs most of the way, and walking tracks reach the summit of Mount Kaputar, where the view is said to take in a tenth of New South Wales. The park is famous for its giant pink slugs, found nowhere else, which emerge on the high plateau after rain. Snow falls in winter. It is a mountain island in a sea of plain, and a world of its own.
