Oberon sits in the middle of sixty-five thousand hectares of softwood plantation, and the timber pavilion tells that story from a heavy horse in harness through to film of mechanical harvesters working the rows. Elsewhere there is a weatherboard cottage from about 1887 furnished as it would have been, a blacksmith's shed, and a scale model of the town as it stood in the 1930s.
