The east end of Grenfell Street is where a roving vegan food van finally put down roots, trading the market circuit for a permanent Greek kitchen. Everything is plant-based, but the reference points are unmistakably Hellenic: lamb-style yiros wrapped in toasted pita with house tzatziki, tomato, onion and chips; loaded fries under Greek slaw and olive tapenade; the AB, that late-night Adelaide staple, rebuilt without meat. The souvlaki-shop format survives intact, all quick counter service, generous portions and sauces made in-house, only the animal has left the plate. It reads as proof that vegan cooking can be unfussy and familiar rather than worthy, and it carries a genuine pedigree, the operation having earned a spot on Lonely Planet's global list of vegan food trucks before the shopfront arrived. Closed Monday and Tuesday, busiest on weekend evenings.
