A hands-on science centre in the old Holmesglen TAFE campus on Bulli Street, run by founder Kathy Stubberfield, who began the venture as The Scientwists and opened her first centre in her hometown of Echuca. Everything here is taken out of the box to be touched, moved, built and played with, and a no-instructions policy keeps reading to a minimum. The exhibit floor splits into three areas: blue and green for all ages, and tangerine, a private space for pre-schoolers with a cocooned area for under-twos. Natural sunlight is used throughout rather than dark accent lighting.
The Snack Lab Cafe pours locally roasted Arabica coffee and science drinks served in beakers and conical flasks, and the gift shop stocks science toys, puzzles and edible bugs.
