Tony Davys launched Australian 4X4 Treks from Rockhampton in January 2019, after four years guiding and training 4WD drivers for Great Divide Tours near Canberra, and after the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes ended his previous business, Overland 4WD Rentals. Twenty-two years in the 4WD industry and a Master's degree in Wildlife Management sit behind his Savannah Guides accreditation — Tony is one of only two tag-along operators in Australia approved under the Savannah Guides Enterprise scheme. His Simpson Desert Double Crossing runs fourteen nights, ten of them in the desert, tracking the French Line, QAA Line, WAA Line and Rig Road through to the Madigan Line, Poeppel Corner and Big Red, with Aboriginal Land Access permits covering the Madigan Line route. Tony drives the lead vehicle himself, a winch-equipped Toyota 79 Series, while guests either tag-along in their own 4WD or ride as one of two passengers in his. His 26-day Kimberley trek covers the Tanami Track, Purnululu, Mitchell Falls and the Gibb River Road, and includes the Oombi Track, led on the day by a Traditional Owner through Balanggarra Country.
