A deep, narrow sandstone gully 17 kilometres north of Rylstone that shelters a pocket of rainforest — tree ferns, rock orchids and figs growing on the cool valley floor below ridges of dry western woodland. The loop walk takes about an hour, dropping among the ferns and returning along the rocky rim past eroded formations; a reasonable level of fitness helps. Lyrebirds, powerful owls and glossy black cockatoos live here, along with wombats, echidnas and wallabies. Carry your own food and water.
