Mel Lumb works from a home studio on a farm in the Noosa hinterland, making high-fired stoneware and porcelain by hand from start to finish, with her own glazes and an onsite kiln. Her textural homewares move between wheel-thrown, altered and slab-built forms and kurinuki, the Japanese method of carving a vessel from a solid block. A decade of study under ceramicists like Akira Satake and Ken Matsuzaki sits behind work that has shown at JamFactory and Saint Cloche.
