Michael Lew is a retired academic who writes the code that generates his pens, rather than drawing them. Everything is 3D-printed in fine layers, and the layer lines are the point — five surface patterns exploit them deliberately, sparkling through to fluted. He designed an eccentric ballast roll-stop so the pens sit still on a desk, apparently the only ones that do. Schmidt nibs, tuned before shipping. One model is printed in iron-filled filament for weight.
