Launched in Belfast in 1885, the Polly Woodside is an iron-hulled barque that made seventeen circuits of the globe before ending up a Melbourne coal hulk. The National Trust took her on in 1968 for a single cent, by which point she was the last square-rigged deep-water commercial sailing ship still afloat in Australasia. She now sits in her original timber dry dock at South Wharf, open to board on the first and third Sunday of each month.
