Bell & Gong takes its name from the bell-and-gong signal a ship at anchor sounds in fog — fitting for Simon, a former Master Mariner who came ashore to plant Pinot Noir at Valleyfield, a 19th-century homestead north of Longford. With Frances he established the vineyard in 2013, trialling Abel and other clones across the Northern Midlands. Winemaker Alain Rousseau makes the wines; the 2017 Pinot took Top Gold at the National Cool Climate Wine Show. Cellar door by appointment.
