FIELD ATLAS · BUSH WALK

Honeyeater Lookout

AIRLIE BEACH, QUEENSLAND

A grade-four shared trail climbs out of Airlie Beach into Conway National Park to a constructed lookout over Pioneer Bay, the Whitsunday islands and the bays and peninsulas of Dryander National Park across the water. From the Kara Crescent trailhead it is 2.3 kilometres along the Conway Range trail to the turn-off, then 1.8 kilometres up to the lookout — very steep in sections, and walkers share the track with mountain bikers. When the coastal banksia flowers, honeyeaters work the blooms for nectar. Wear proper shoes and carry plenty of water.
