Built in 1926, at sixteen hundred metres in Kosciuszko, several kilometres from the nearest road and with no power, water or phone line running to it. Snowbound through winter. Ski tourers have used it as a base since the fifties and still maintain it themselves, and the flying fox they strung across Farm Creek is still there, retired now in favour of a footbridge. You can book it.
