Carol and Andrew Iles ran a bird guiding business around Julatten from 1999 and have owned the lodge since 2015. Five self-contained units sit on 4.5 hectares of Land for Wildlife rainforest at the foot of the Mount Lewis range; close to 240 species have been recorded within a kilometre and a half. Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfishers breed in the grounds from late October. No day visitors, no children under twelve, closed through the wet.
