Phil Vanier started with a concrete slab and a shed in East London. Now working from a workshop in Moonah, he builds made-to-order timber furniture — bookcases with integrated LED lighting, wormy chestnut desks, celery top pine wardrobes — using 3D modelling at the design stage to solve problems before sawdust flies. Tasmanian oak is a recurring material; so is rolling-ladder library fits.
