A small Tiwi art centre at Wurrumiyanga on Bathurst Island, a short flight or ferry north of Darwin, where artists come in daily to work at what's known as the Keeping Place — a quiet room rather than a showroom. It's tiny and well off the usual track, reached only with a Tiwi permit, which is much of its character: a place set up for island artists to make their work first, and somewhere to see that work second.
