A pair of 1903 Johnston Street buildings — once a dairy and a haberdashery — running as The Old Bar since 2001. The 175-capacity band room has a fireplace, a courtyard out back and a gallery upstairs, with live music seven nights a week — punk, noise, garage, country, whatever — often free in the arvo and rarely more than a few dollars a band. One of the owners still books every act himself. Loud, raw, and, as the door puts it, no dickhead behaviour tolerated.
