Bud Heyser hand-forges knives in Collingwood, in Melbourne's inner north, working high-carbon steel into custom chef, bread and seafood blades finished with natural patinas and brazed detail. The bench extends beyond knives to a small line of homewares — brass vases, incense burners, drinking vessels — and to champagne sabres, all made in the same craftsman's hand. It is a bespoke operation rather than a volume workshop, taking commissions and selling finished pieces through its own shop.
