Damian Smith's two-storey Collingwood gallery takes its name from an eighteenth-century coinage — Australasia, "south of Asia" — and reads that geography as a working brief: 45 exhibitions since 2019 of Australian, Asian and Pacific artists, Gonkar Gyatso and Zhou Xiaoping among them. Programs run in English and Mandarin. Chinese antiquities and collector advice sit alongside the contemporary work, and a privately funded research institute shares the building. Saturdays and by appointment.
