Pretty Gully, in the ranges behind the Northern Rivers hinterland near Tabulam, is old mining country — a hundred acres of private property riddled with abandoned workings, gold-bearing gullies and a creek that's never been fully worked out. Leigh runs guided prospecting days here for both first-timers and experienced detectorists, walking groups through reading the ground rather than just pointing them at open country. The same outfit also runs trips on recently flooded ground near Clermont in Queensland — freshly exposed and never previously prospected — and out at Leonora in Western Australia, deep in the Eastern Goldfields and among the country's most productive gold ground. Running three distinct sites across three states is unusual for an operator this size, and it means the trips vary a lot: hilly, wooded gully country in NSW versus flat, sun-blasted goldfields scrub in the west. Bookings are direct through the operator, with tour dates tied to each site's conditions and access.
