Australia's largest continental food store, begun by Giuseppe and Carmela Madafferi as a small Sydney Road delicatessen in 1961 and now serving third-generation customers. Tinned and bottled vegetables, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, pulses, porcini and more than 250 shapes of pasta fill the shelves; the delicatessen carries aged Italian prosciutto, Parmigiano Reggiano and Sicilian sheep's-milk pecorino. Almond biscotti and breads are baked in house, a coffee bar pours espresso alongside cannoli, and an adjoining shop sells terracotta cooking pots and kitchenware. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm, Saturday to 2pm, Sunday to 1pm.
