The most photographed waterfall in Australia, and deservedly so. On the Atherton Tablelands behind Cairns, Millaa Millaa drops a clean, symmetrical eighteen metres into a round, fern-fringed pool, the whole scene so lush and perfectly composed it seems staged. Swimming is welcome in the cool green water, and the falls anchor a short circuit that also takes in Zillie and Ellinjaa falls through the dairy country of the tablelands. Rainforest crowds the banks and the constant spray keeps everything mossy and dripping. It is the postcard of the wet tropics.
