Know before you go. The trail is closed over summer — there is no access from 6pm on 30 November until 6am on 1 March, because of extreme heat. It starts near the Wilpena Pound Visitor Centre and is one of the longer, steeper climbs in the park, on loose rock with little shade. Outside the closure, start early, carry plenty of water and tell someone your plans.
