The hut is pine and pug, built in 2002 to an 1880s pattern from local pine and stone, seven kilometres from the homestead and reachable only by 4WD. Twelve volts of solar, a pit toilet, a camp shower, and Blinman Pools a four-hour return walk away. Back at the creek the shearers' quarters sleep fourteen around an open fire, on a generator that won't take a hairdryer.
